Hey everyone! My name is Tristan Mayer and welcome to my blog, The Film Fan Awakens. Here, I will answer some questions about what this blog is about and who I am.
WHAT IS THE FILM FAN AWAKENS?
The Film Fan Awakens is an entertainment blog focused on movies and television. I'll be posing in-depth reviews an analysis of the movies and TV I am watching as well as my thoughts on some big news breaks or special events in media such as San Diego Comic Con and E3.
WHAT MAKES TFFA UNIQUE?
Obviously there are a lot of entertainment blogs out there. What makes TFFA a special one is the amount of detail and depth put into my posts. Many people on the internet are focused on capturing quick bursts of attention, only giving the audience just enough to hold them over for a 4 minute video. TFFA takes the opposite approach. I know that you are smart and that you want to think differently about your entertainment. Not all audiences want simplistic, fast-paced coverage. For those who want more out of their entertainment, The Film Fan Awakens is the place for you.
WHY DID I START THIS BLOG?
One of my earliest memories is sitting with my dad, watching Star Wars on an old VHS player. The picture was a bit grainy, and I was far too young to properly understand the full nature of what I was seeing, but it was always a happy experience. I didn't know if then, but moments like that would be what fueled my passion and drive throughout the rest of my life. Movies are more than just pictures moving quickly before our eyes, they're more than just an excuse to eat popcorn or candy. They create memories.
We can all think back to the first time we saw one of our favorite movies or the first time we took a date to a theater. We can all list of some of the big moments that left us shocked or crying or questioning the world. These moments are what inspired me to start this blog. If I can take a movie or a TV episode and bring a new sense of depth or enjoyment to it for someone, that is the ultimate accomplishment.
WHAT CONTENT WILL YOU REVIEW?
I will certainly be reviewing new releases of Fridays. Not only the big blockbusters, but some of the smaller titles you may have missed out on or underestimated. I will also look back at certain movies of the past for events like anniversaries or reboots in order to better examine how the movie holds up over the years or what its impact was.
As for TV, I will do weekly reviews of some of my favorites such as Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, and The Walking Dead. I will also do premier and finale reviews for other shows I watch that may not get as much in-depth coverage. If any of these smaller reviews get a lot of responses, I will upgrade them to weekly coverage.
With entertainment as a whole, I will sometimes cover big news stories, but I want this to be mostly a review blog. If a news item feels significant to the media overall, though, I will use this blog as a means of explaining its importance and what it could mean. For example, I attend San Diego Comic Con each year and will use this blog to talk about the Con and the movie and TV related news.
If there is anything else you would like me to cover, you can contact me and I will gladly take a look!
WHAT IS YOUR SPOILER POLICY?
My spoiler policy changes by the post and the content. For example, my weekly Game of Thrones reviews will cover spoilers in-depth because it assumes people have watched the episode first. However when I review a new release movie, or a show that not many people have seen, I will avoid spoilers to preserve the experience. We live in a massive spoiler culture right now with people dedicated entirely to spoiling movies for their followers and that is not the type of blogger I want to be.
At the top of each post, you will see a specific spoiler scope to let you know what it will be spoiling.
